Giovanni Van Bronckhorst is on the verge of becoming Arne Slot’s new assistant manager at Liverpool, with only the final details remaining.
That’s according to NOS, who report that Van Bronkhorst’s agent Guido Albers has confirmed a move to Liverpool is on the cards for the Dutchman.
They report that Van Bronckhorst will be John Heitinga’s successor at Liverpool. On the final details have to be completed on the move.
Algemeen Dagblad back this up and add their own information, reporting that it was Slot who approached Van Bronckhorst to make the move.
No deal has been signed yet, according to them, but sources have confirmed that there is a ‘very serious chance’ that Slot and Van Bronckhorst will be working together next season.
They say the move from the Liverpool manager is ‘not illogical’ as Van Bronckhorst has a lot of experience behind him, knows top-level football and has ‘the right ego’ to act as an assistant at Anfield.
It also makes sense for Van Bronckhorst. He’s been out of work since leaving Besiktas in November last year and needs a way back in. AD say he’s never been a man for the spotlight and a role behind the scenes at Liverpool may suit him better because of that.
All in all, there’s positivity that the deal will be done and, furthermore, it could be one that works out well for everyone, especially Liverpool.
