Chelsea completed Saúl Ñíguez’s signing in the last hour of the summer transfer window.
The Blues took the midfielder on a loan deal from Atlético Madrid, with an option to make his stay permanent at the end of this season.
He’s been on the pitch for 146 minutes, which came from three matches for the west London club. The 26-year-old is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League since featuring in his side’s win over Aston Villa on September 11th.
The Spain international left the La Liga winners in order to try a new experience, but things have ‘not [gone] as expected’ with the Blues.
That’s according to La Razón, who add the current situation would make it difficult for the Champions League winners to exercise the buying option set at €40m.
This isn’t the only reason, as the report adds Thomas Tuchel’s side want to sign Marcelo Brozović. The Croatian’s contract runs down in 2022 and he’s in talks with Inter Milan over a renewal.
For now, ‘everything indicates’ Saúl will return to Atlético since Chelsea have ‘no intention of buying’ the player.
