Newcastle United’s rise up the Premier League table this season has been a “sincere surprise” to the established top six.

That’s according to midfielder Jorginho, who has hailed them as a bigger surprise than Arsenal so far this season.

Newcastle United currently sit third in the table after 15 games of the season, with eight wins, six draws and just one defeat to their name.

That’s seen them pick up 30 points, just two fewer than Manchester City and seven behind league leaders Arsenal.

They were also top of the form table alongside the Gunners before the break for the World Cup in Qatar, with the pair picking up 16 points from their last six games.

Eddie Howe’s side have been earning praise from all corners as a result, with many hailing the work that the Magpies coach has done since his arrival at the club last season.

Jorginho is one of them, hailing the atmosphere that Howe has managed to build at Newcastle and the results it has been getting him and his team.

“That was a sincere surprise honestly, much more than Arsenal,” he told Sky Italia, relayed by Gianluca di Marzio.

“But even in this case the coach is very prepared, and the players understood what they had to do, so the right atmosphere was created in a place where the fans are very warm, even if it is very cold there.”
