Espanyol defender César Montes has admitted he is “grateful” to be linked with both Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers as it is a sign he is “doing well.”
Montes only joined Espanyol in the January transfer window, arriving in an €8m deal from Monterrey in his native Mexico.
He had been with them since he was a youngster, rising up through the various youth ranks before making 265 appearances in all competitions for the club.
His move to Espanyol is his first outside of Mexico but he has settled in well so far, establishing himself in the first team and making seven appearances in La Liga to date.
Espanyol have been in good form in those games too, losing just two of those that he has been a part of.
A report at the end of last month indicated his displays have not gone unnoticed in England, with Nottingham Forest and Wolves both keeping an eye on them.
In fact, that same report stated that both had asked about him, and it seems he is more than happy to have both clubs interested in him.
“These are signs that I am doing well, and I am grateful,” Soy Football report him saying on the rumours.
“I will continue along the path and if something comes, we will see in the future. It’s not something that distracts me personally.”
“I will continue this path and if something happens, we will see more in the future. I am focused on the next game,” add TUDN, who say the defender also insisted he could spend “many years” at Espanyol.
That suggests he won’t be pushing for a move to Nottingham Forest or Wolves any time soon, but should they firm up their apparent interest, he isn’t completely uninterested either.
