West Ham United and Newcastle United fans won’t be thrilled with how their seasons are going so far.
Both clubs are in the second half of the table and there is only a four-point gap between the pair.
West Ham, who are 14th in the table, lost to Leicester City yesterday. And Newcastle, who are 11th in the table, have failed to win their last two Premier League games.
While Eddie Howe’s future has not been seriously questioned, there are serious doubts about Julen Lopetegui at West Ham.
Calciomercato.it state that former Juventus manager Max Allegri is on West Ham’s shortlist and the Italian’s name is being ‘evaluated’. The report mentions that Newcastle United could also become an option for the 57-year-old.
The finances of a potential move for Allegri are also described in detail.
The indication is that a move will be ‘very expensive’ for the Hammers and Magpies. According to the report, the manager earned €7m a year – likely after tax – at Juventus.
He’d be looking for €8m in the Premier League and it’s stated he could even leverage big Middle East offers to try and push that higher.
