Jordan Henderson is expected to return to Europe, months after he left Liverpool for Al-Ettifaq last summer.
The 33-year-old is on the front page of today’s Corriere dello Sport and, surprisingly, Juventus are said to be his next possible destination.
Massimiliano Allegri has requested a new midfielder and the focus is currently on the former Liverpool captain.
The midfielder has made 19 appearances for the Middle East club but isn’t happy with his life in Saudi Arabia.
Corriere dello Sport say: ‘In Arabia they build fragile golden bridges, in Turin dreams made of concrete. This is why Jordan Henderson, 12 years of Liverpool on his rocky shoulders and already earned €18m in six months at Al-Ettifaq, would marry Juventus again tomorrow just to get out of the Saudi bubble.’
The newspaper adds the England international, who was attracted by the lucrative offer last summer, is ‘already fed up’ with his life in Saudi Arabia.
He could also risk losing his place in the national team for the Euros next summer. To avoid this, the ex-Liverpool star would be looking to return to Europe this month and the Old Lady are ready to open their door for him.
Juve technical director Cristiano Giuntoli has Udinese’s Lazar Samardžić and Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners on his list for next summer.
He also has to bring in a quality midfielder in the winter market to please Allegri, with Henderson and Saúl Ñíguez identified as targets.
The newspaper states Atlético Madrid aren’t willing to let Saúl leave on loan and therefore, the focus is now on the Englishman, who is currently leading Juve’s list.
A move to the Turin club can help Henderson play at the highest level, which would also improve his chances of representing England at the Euros.
