Sheffield United are in the battle with other clubs for FC Metz star Georges Mikautadze, according to Le10 Sport.
Operating mainly as a striker and at times as a left winger, he managed 23 goals and eight assists from 37 Ligue 2 games last season. He was vital in helping Metz achieve promotion generated interest from other clubs in the process.
It’s claimed both Sheffield United and Lazio have ‘submitted’ proposals of €18m and €15m respectively and this is still short of the €20m fee requested by the French club.
Lyon have now sent an offer close to €20m to sign the 22-year-old. In addition to this, the website states Rennes have made preparations to table a proposal to sign the Georgia international.
Despite Lyon’s offer being better than the one tabled by the Blades, Le10 state Sheffield United are ‘still there’ in the transfer race.
They add it’s not clear whether Metz will decide to part ways with their star. If they do, it’s down to Mikautadze and his decision.
In other words, Sheffield United, Lyon and other clubs that have shown interest in the forward are now waiting for his and Metz’s decision.
