Earlier today, we covered claims from Germany which explained Jonjoe Kenny’s moved from Hertha Berlin to Sheffield United was in tatters.
A few days ago, the Championship club were said to have set a Wednesday deadline for a transfer, and if no deal was agreed with the German club by then, Sheffield United’s stance was that they’d walk away from the opportunity.
The Blades wanted time to look at other fullback options in the market and it was thought that could even kill Kenny’s hopes of moving to Sheffield United in the summer when he’s a free agent.
Hertha Berlin knocked back a Sheffield United offer consisting of €600k initially and then another €600k if the Blades are promoted to the Premier League.
Instead they wanted €2m.
Sky Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg now reports a fresh meeting was held between the two clubs today, in a last attempt to reach an agreement. Those talks failed.
Florian doesn’t offer any new information aside from that, using the figures reported elsewhere previously.
Of course, there’s time for another twist yet… right?!
