Sevilla have been handed a last-minute blow ahead of their clash with Arsenal in the Champions League tonight as midfielder Fernando Reges has been forced out through injury.
That’s according to Marca, who cover the ‘last minute loss’ of the Brazilian who has an ‘overload in his Achilles tendon’.
The newspaper reports that Sevilla announced today that there has been a change in their squad list ahead of tonight’s match, with Fernando replaced by Federico Gattoni.
The Brazilian has suffered a last-minute injury that will rule him out of the game tonight, a ‘significant loss’ for Sevilla as the Brazilian was a serious candidate to start in Diego Alonso’s team after not featuring against Real Madrid.
That had looked likely to change against Arsenal, though, after Alonso praised the veteran players in his squad this week and even singled out Fernando.
He’s now set to miss the game, though, having suffered an overload in his Achilles tendon. Quite what that means isn’t detailed but it will mean he misses the clash with Arsenal either way.
The club have made it clear that the injury shouldn’t be a long one and he will be available for the weekend clash with Cádiz.
