Newcastle United are keen to sign Fenerbahçe’s Arda Güler and have reportedly held talks with his family and agent in Dubai over a potential summer transfer.
Last month, Fotomaç reported the Magpies are close to making the strongest bid for the midfielder.
Ajax have now joined Newcastle in the chase for the 18-year-old. That’s according to Karar, who say the duo are the ‘most serious teams’ to sign him.
The Tyneside club and the Eredivisie side have already ‘made offers’ for the teenager. It’s claimed the two teams will have a ‘transfer meeting’ with the Turkey international’s family in the next few days.
This would be the Premier League side’s second meeting with Güler’s family after the first one in Dubai.
Newcastle have qualified for the Champions League. Eddie Howe is looking to sign players who can make an impact to the team next season, as well as aiming to add young players. This is where Güler would fit in.
Amid firm interest from Newcastle and Ajax, Fenerbahçe would prefer to retain the player for at least one more season. A decision on his future may be made after his suitors hold talks with his family.
Güler has managed six goals and six assists from 33 games this season.
