On July 16th, we covered multiple claims from Italy which stated Everton are pushing to sign Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto this summer.
The Toffees aren’t the only club in the picture as Genoa are Parma are also keen on the winger, according to MilanLive.it.
It’s claimed the Italy international is ready to leave Leeds and make a switch to Serie A.
He joined Leeds in 2020 and his performances saw him make his debut for Italy in 2022, when Roberto Mancini was manager. Gnonto lost his place in the national team under Luciano Spalletti.
The player wants to return to the Italy squad, and since Leeds are in the Championship, he is considering leaving Elland Road in this window.
The report says he’s thinking about making a return to Italy, where Genoa and Parma are ready to ‘welcome him with open arms’.
Parma have returned to Serie A, and will be looking to further strengthen their attack. Meanwhile, Genoa are waiting to find out if Albert Gudmundsson and Mateo Retegui will leave them this summer.
If one of those were to leave, Gnonto can be a solution for Genoa. It’s not ruled out for him to still arrive, even if the aforementioned duo were to continue at the club.
In short, both Genoa and Parma are ‘serious’ about Gnonto, who is ready to leave Leeds.
