There was a time when Hull City were bringing in players on loan from Inter Milan, back in 2017, when the club was still in the Premier League.
Andrea Ranocchia needed some game time, and the Tigers were willing to give it to him, which is why he made the move to Yorkshire.
The defender made 16 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and picking up two assists, and in a chat with Matteo Darmian, relayed by FC Inter News, expanded a bit on his first few days at Hull City.
He said: “I had been taking lessons now for a year. I spoke it, but when I went to England, I was in Yorkshire and I didn’t understand anything. It sounded like Arabic. Then, luckily there was Abel Hernandez who spoke Italian and gave me a hand. There were also five Scots, but it was a beautiful experience.”
Ranocchia only stayed six months at Hull City, but he clearly enjoyed his time there before returning to Inter Milan.
After that, he stayed at the club for another five seasons, before moving to AC Monza on a free in 2022, where only he played for two months, deciding to retire on September 22nd.
