Earlier on Thursday, we covered a short report from L’Equipe that Everton’s Fraser Hornby was very close to signing with Stade de Reims in France.
The Scotland U21 international spent the season on loan with KV Kortrijk, but with the Jupiler Pro League now over, he doesn’t really have any obligations to stay around Belgium.
That’s exactly why the Ligue 1 side have pounced, and RMC Sport are now confirming the story, revealing the goalscorer is already in the Champagne region of France, where Reims is situated, to finalise the deal.
L’Equipe reported the fee for the deal as being €2m, but RMC believe it’s ‘less than €2m’, and both outlets agree on the fact he will be putting pen to paper on a four-year deal.
They state his four goals in 14 appearances in all competitions were ‘enough to convince Reims to gamble on the forward’, clearly seeing a potential there they can develop and hopefully use to their advantage down the line.
Either way, when L’Equipe and RMC Sport both report something and the details are as similar as they are here, it’s near guaranteed it will happen.
