Making a rare start for Tottenham since his £30m transfer from Newcastle in the summer, Moussa Sissoko will want to forget his time on the pitch against Gent.
Subbed off after 71 minutes, the French midfielder was unable to influence the game enough, and was even used as a left wing-back for some of the game after some half-time changes by Mauricio Pochettino.
According to Notizie in Italy, Sissoko is an alternative for the Serie A side, who have apparently targeted Marseille’s Franck Zambo Anguissa as the man to bolster their midfield for next season.
With a few ‘top Premier League clubs’ also after the 21-year-old Cameroonian, Milan want to show they are capable of rivalling for top talent once their Chinese investors complete the takeover at the beginning of March, and have already contacted the player’s agent.
Were they to miss out on the Marseille defensive midfielder, however, they would turn their attention to Moussa Sissoko.
This follows Thursday’s claims from Calciomercato.it, not to be confused with Calciomercato.com, that AC Milan had made a few enquiries regarding the Tottenham midfielder.
At this stage, it seems few Spurs fans would be unhappy to see the back of the France international next summer, and if Daniel Levy can manage recoup most, or all, of the fee originally paid for Sissoko, we doubt anyone at the club would complain either.
