Back in early November, it was reported by Bild that Newcastle United had held talks with the agent of Niklas Süle, currently contracted to Bayern Munich.

The German defender’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and while there have been negotiations regarding a renewal, they aren’t going well.

Earlier on Thursday, it was claimed that they were ‘stalling’, which had led to his agents offering him around, with Newcastle taking the bait.

This came from Kicker, and now Sky Germany have joined in with their information, explaining that ‘a contract extension is unlikely’, and there ‘has already been talks’ with the Magpies.

Therefore, the Germany international’s future ‘continues towards the Premier League’, suggesting that Newcastle, should they avoid relegation, of course, would be in the driving seat regarding this transfer.

We’ll have to wait and see, but that’s two separate sources reporting talks between the St James’ Park club and Süle’s representatives, meaning there might really be something in this.
