It seems Chelsea still have a shot at the signing of Gabriel Moscardo from Corinthians.
As widely reported in the past couple of weeks, Paris Saint-Germain were supposed to have won the race for the player, as he was ready to sign for the French side.
The problem is that Moscardo had an ankle injury which required surgery, and the deal may be off. That was confirmed by Corinthians president Augusto Melo in an interview with CNN.
“I’ve told them to send him back, if there’s a risk there, there’s a risk here. If there’s a chance we won’t get paid, let him recover here and we’ll be in a better position to sell him. I’ve asked him to come back,” said the club president.
“This boy is a reality, he’s going to come back well and he’s going to be sold for much more than he is today. In two months he’ll be back.”
Gabriel Moscardo had been heavily linked to Chelsea before the transfer to PSG was agreed, and in case the situation is confirmed, Corinthians will be ready to sell him again, this time probably with some hard feelings towards the French side.
The sale had reportedly been done for €20m plus bonuses, and the Brazilian club will certainly be ready to accept any offers that covers that, although the new club will undoubtedly want to have some medical checks before making such an investment in the youngster.
There was a point where Chelsea were reportedly offering €25m for the transfer, but that was never confirmed.
