On March 2nd, Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos revealed his client’s priority is to continue at Arsenal, while also insisting that other offers will be evaluated.
Four days ago, Calciomercato reported the Gunners have suddenly stopped negotiations for the midfielder’s renewal, after offering a deal until 2025, with an option for another year. It was also stated Juventus are attentive to his situation.
Santos was a guest on Radio Sportiva and it’s no surprise the agent talked about the 32-year-old’s future at Arsenal. His quotes are relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Brazil-born Italy international’s deal lasts until the end of this season and Arsenal have an option to extend it for another year.
When asked about the former Napoli star’s contract situation, the representative insisted that he will hold talks with the north London club.
“He’s out of contract with the Gunners, we’ll talk to them because he’s doing well. If they need him from next season…” he said.
If Arsenal were to not extend the deal, the agent suggests Jorginho could return to Serie A.
“It’s always like this in football: Jorginho has played in Italy all his life, he likes it a lot, why say no?” Santos explained.
The former Chelsea man has made 28 appearances this season, managing a goal and an assist in the process.
Mikel Arteta has relied upon him in recent weeks and Jorginho has impressed with his performances, which has also helped him retain his place with Azzurri.
