Largie Ramazani has turned his loan from Leeds United to Valencia on its head in recent weeks.

At one point in January there was talk of a potential early return to Elland Road. The 25-year-old hadn’t made a big impact as the Spanish side struggled against relegation.

Just over a month later, he’s picked up a La Liga award for goal of the month and is the club’s in-form player. Four goals in five games have helped Valencia pick up some points. They’re climbing up the table, now in 14th place and five points clear of relegation.

Tuesday’s edition of 20 Minutos Valencia has a headline calling the Leeds United player a ‘saviour’. He’s become the club’s penalty taker, scoring two in his recent run.

On Sunday, Valencia beat Osasuna 1-0 thanks to a Ramazani penalty, one which had to be retaken.

Manager happy with Leeds United loanee

Following the win over Osasuna, manager Carlos Corberán shared his happiness with the loanee.

“Ramazani showed great character, because to score the first goal and then, after feeling like you’ve scored, have to have to retake the penalty, you need the ability to not let that pressure build up, which is very important. You might start to doubt whether to go the same way or switch sides, and he handles that psychological aspect extraordinarily well,” said the Spaniard.

The Leeds United player himself added: “I’m gaining confidence, I want to help my team whenever I can, and I’m doing that. I’m happy.

“I didn’t see what happened, but I don’t care. If I have to score again, it’s no big deal. I knew I was going to score, and I shot to the same side. If I have to do it a hundred times, I’ll do it a hundred times.”

Where things go from here

Valencia now look likely to stay up, and if Ramzani has played a big part in that there will inevitably be calls for him to stay.

However, their finances are poor and Leeds United would almost be certainly be asked for another loan.

That’s not so helpful to the Yorkshire club, especially given the player’s contract expires in 2028. The better route to a permanent transfer may well be catching the attention of other clubs in La Liga and getting some money in that way.
