Galatasaray are sweating over the fitness of Hakim Ziyech ahead of their clash with Manchester United in the Champions League next week.
That’s according to Aksam Spor, who say the player and the club are ‘waiting’ to see if he will be fit for the Champions League group stage match.
They explain that the decision has been made not to risk the Moroccan, who joined from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, for the upcoming clash against MKE Ankaragücü.
They host them this weekend, but coach Okan Buruk wants to get through the clash in a ‘balanced and trouble-free manner’ and that means a big decision has been made.
He’s elected to ‘save his star player’, who is Ziyech, to be clear, to ensure that the player is fit for the clash with Manchester United.
That’s because the winger is nursing an injury from training ahead of the recent win over Istanbulspor and was rested during that game to avoid ‘taking any risks’ with him.
Because of that he will not be in the squad for the clash with Ankaragücü either, with it still unclear whether he is fully healed. The injury he suffered is not a serious one, but it has not healed completely yet.
The plan is therefore to give him more time for the ‘giant match’ with Manchester United, a game in which they are hoping to have him fully fit and firing for.
