Reports from Spain remain confident that Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez is leaving the club and heading to the Premier League this summer.

Earlier today, AS claimed Manchester United are leading the race for the 26-year-old, with Chelsea also competing for his arrival. Sport Witness even managed to confirm that his move to Old Trafford is ‘a possibility’.

Now AS are back with another story, this time claiming ‘Saul’s decision has been made’, and explaining the reasons why he wants to leave Atleti.

One of them is said to be his position. The midfielder has been used as a ‘carrilero’, a sort of central midfielder who often must take a defensive role to cover the fullbacks’ absence, and would like to return to having a more attacking job.

Saul is also said to be surrounded by people who believe he’s being ‘wasted’ at Atletico, and that he could play better personally elsewhere.

AS adds that despite the great focus in Atletico’s dressing room, the midfielder doesn’t always behave the same as his teammates, and they give  some examples of it: ‘Twisting his face when Simeone sends him to the defence. Getting angry. Showing his dissatisfaction with his situation constantly.’

The outlet insists that he’d be out for one year, on a loan, and could prove himself in that period. They add that leaving temporarily could show Saul just how good he really has it in Madrid.

Now it sounds like a matter of who’s taking him.

Even though AS don’t mention potential destinations in this story, they make sure to tag both Chelsea and Manchester United in the article.
