Atlético Madrid’s Saúl Ñíguez could move to Manchester United before the window closes, a source has told Sport Witness.

Earlier on Tuesday, AS reported the midfielder is ‘very close’ to leaving the La Liga winners, with his ‘destiny being the Premier League’.

It was also explained Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign the Spain international.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from Diego Simeone’s side even before the start of the summer window.

A source has told Sport Witness a move to Old Trafford in the coming days is ‘a possibility’ for the 26-year-old. That may sound obvious, but the same source is always quick to completely dismiss things when there’s no basis to the claims.

The indications so far seem the deal isn’t as advanced as it was reported elsewhere as the Red Devils and Chelsea remain as options for Los Rojiblancos man.

For the past few years, Saúl has been regularly linked with a move to United, while Atlético kept referring to his €150m release clause.

The situation is different this time around as there’s a ‘possibility’ for the player to leave Atlético in the last week of the window.
