Samuel Iling-Junior joined Bologna on loan from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
His stint hasn’t been going well at all, with the Englishman playing only 407 minutes across all competitions. In Serie A, he’s played only five times and only came off the bench in the last two league games.
As his struggles continue and Aston Villa witness it all unfold from afar, there are now doubts about the winger’s future at Bologna.
This comes from TuttoBolognaWeb, who state that Iling-Junior’s future at the Italian side is ‘under scrutiny’ and they feel that the summer arrival is ‘struggling a lot’ under manager Vincenzo Italiano. He has struggled to adapt to the manager’s style and this could lead to an early exit.
They state that Bologna could work with Aston Villa to potentially end the loan deal prematurely, with the report mentioning that the Birmingham club are concerned about the 21-year-old’s development.
Bologna have, in the meantime, identified potential replacements and that doesn’t seem promising for Iling-Junior, who only arrived at Aston Villa in the summer.
