Former Arsenal star Samir Nasri is currently having a good time on loan at Sevilla from Manchester City. The Frenchman has been riding on the injury wave of luck and so far his good performances haven’t been too much hampered by a hamstring going ping.
The form and Nasri’s impact on games is somewhat reminiscent of some of his time at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger. Many fans of the club will always be angry with Nasri for what they see as disrespectful treatment, but the attacker did so well over a period there that when he came to leave Arsenal, both the Manchester clubs tussled over signing him.
Speaking to L’Equipe’s evening show, Nasri this week has touched upon the situation surrounding Karim Benzema, and he clearly feels the striker should be ahead of Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud. It may even be something Nasri can agree upon with Arsenal fans.
The Sevilla loan player explained: “I’ll be objective, he is the best French striker.
“If Karim returns, he will get back to the teamwork and it will work. No you will not even tell me when Benzema is worse than Giroud or Gameiro?”
It would appear the French football authorities are waiting for Benzema’s court case to be resolved. If that doesn’t work in his favour then it’s quite possible the striker, who turns 29 in January, has played his last international football.
That’d be good news for Arsenal’s Giroud, and probably confirm to Nasri that the system is unfair.
