Rúben Amorim’s move to Manchester United from Sporting Club de Portugal is ‘close to completion’ and the Portuguese club are already planning for his succession.
That’s according to O Jogo, who report that João Pereira, coach of Sporting’s B Team, is the man currently being eyed up to replace Amorim.
The current Sporting coach has quickly emerged as the favourite to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United after he was sacked yesterday.
Negotiations between Manchester United and Sporting have quickly progressed and reports in both England and Portugal believe a deal will be struck soon.
O Jogo back that up, stating that Amorim’s departure to Old Trafford is ‘close to completion’ and Sporting have already pinpointed his successor.
Pereira is currently in charge of the B Team but works from the same tactical model as the first tea, meaning he is familiar with the style of play and could seamlessly step up. In fact, he’s already received praise from Amorim for his work in the system.
While a deal is being negotiated, Amorim continues his work with the Sporting first-team and CNN Portugal report he travelled today with the first team to the club’s Alcochete Academy.
He ‘maintains the pre-planned routine’ ahead of this evening’s clash with Nacional in the League Cup. He’s been there since 10:05 after arriving on the team bus with the players and is focused on the game despite being ‘on the world’s lips’.
