New Fenerbahçe manager José Mourinho has identified Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg as his main target for the summer window.
Two days ago, Ajanspor said Fenerbahçe board member Acun Ilıcalı has started talks with Spurs for the 28-year-old.
On Wednesday, Türkiye Gazetesi explained that the Turkish club, led by their president Ali Koç, plan to sign the Tottenham midfielder as soon as possible.
Takvim now state Galatasaray have ‘ignited a transfer war’ with Fenerbahçe as they have joined the race to sign Højbjerg.
The two clubs battled it out for the title in the recently concluded season, with the Yellow Canaries finishing second, three points behind their Istanbul rivals. They are set to fight off the pitch for the Denmark international.
Takvim say this is their own information, and they add that Galatasaray will take action to secure the Tottenham player’s services.
The Turkish champions will hold talks with Spurs in a ‘short time’. They have scheduled an appointment with Højbjerg’s agent. This will not please Mourinho, and Fenerbahçe could risk losing the player desired by their manager.
Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe are not exactly friends, so this could get quite entertaining. Should Tottenham be happy to sell to both, then expect fans of the clubs to try and convince Højbjerg directly.
