Last summer, Robin Koch joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a loan deal from Leeds United and his stay there was made permanent in January.
Leeds signed the Germany international from SC Freiburg in 2020 and he made 77 appearances during his time at Elland Road. The centre-back featured eight times for the national team and five of those games came during his debut season with the Whites.
The 27-year-old hasn’t featured for Germany since 2021 but has now returned to the squad for this month’s international break.
Friday’s edition of Bild claims the defender was able to make a comeback to the national team after impressing for the Bundesliga side this season.
The former Leeds man has been a regular for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, scoring four goals and registering two assists from 33 games. His decision to leave the Championship side hasclearly paid off.
Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann has insisted that the defender will benefit from the time he spent at Elland Road.
“Robin has matured thanks to his experience abroad. And he’s also one of the strongest players in the Bundesliga in terms of tackling,” he said, as quoted by Bild.
“He gives his all in training and can play his part in pushing others. He always throws everything into it and wants to lead the way in Frankfurt. It’s a reward for his achievements.”
Koch will now be hoping to retain his place in the Germany squad for the European championship in the summer.
