Sheffield United star Sander Berge has been dropped from Norway’s national team this evening..
TV2 learned that despite having the midfielder starting against Spain, manager Stale Solbakken is keeping the 25-year-old on the bench in the game against Georgia.
The outlet points out that the Sheffield United player ‘does not get renewed confidence’ from the coach, and is now replaced by Ola Solbakken, who was the same midfielder subbed on for him in Saturday’s game.
With TV2 discussing the change, their pundit Jesper Mathisen made a few comments about the situation, claiming Berge hasn’t been showing his best form.
“The Sheffield United player has not been up to his best for Norway for a long time, and therefore it’s quite natural to make a change on that side tonight,” said Mathisen.
Earlier on Tuesday, we had already seen the Norway manager going in heavy on Berge. Speaking to the local media, Solbakken said the midfielder should leave the Championship, as regardless of how good Sheffield United have been this season, that’s not the level he belongs to.
With the midfielder now dropped from the national team, perhaps that’s something that could bother him enough to choose to leave the Blades in the summer, especially in case they don’t get promotion to the Premier League.
