Aston Villa’s Clément Lenglet has emerged as a surprise target for Bayern Munich.
That’s according to Bild, who say Bayern have made it a priority to add a centre-back in January. Thomas Tuchel’s side are yet to decide whether to sign only one or if they should bring in more players in the same position.
Bayern have the Aston Villa defender and Atalanta star Giorgio Scalvini in their target list.
It’s said a deal for the Italy international remains difficult because the Serie A side have no plans to sell the €40m-rated star.
On the other hand, the report says it ‘could be easier’ to sign the Frenchman, who joined the Villans on loan from Barcelona in the last window.
With regards to the 28-year-old, Bild state a ‘commitment would be more realistic’ since he’s valued at €10m. Bayern would need the La Liga side’s cooperation to carry out the transfer.
Lenglet, who has featured five times this season, is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League, and this has left the Catalan club worried.
His situation at Aston Villa could convince Barca to consider cutting short his loan stay and selling him to Bayern in January, as long as the latter make a convincing offer.
