Last week, reports from the Brazilian media revealed Newcastle United’s interest in Santos striker Marcos Leonardo.
It was said the Magpies made initial contact for the signing and were told how much the South American club want for his sale.
As Globo Esporte today features a fresh story on the player, they back up that Newcastle are keen on his signing, and add Real Madrid to that competition.
It’s said Newcastle showed their interest in ‘formalising an offer’ in the January window, even though they didn’t get to speak about numbers just yet.
Real Madrid’s approach was similar. They got in touch with Marcos Leonardo’s entourage, and his agent was even recently spotted at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The word in the Brazilian media has been that €25m would be enough to sign Marcos Leonardo from Santos. Last week, we also had a special piece telling why the striker would be an interesting investment for Newcastle and other Premier League clubs.
