Goalkeeper Mark Flekken has expressed his delight at securing a move to Brentford this summer, something he sees as a “great adventure” for him.

He’s been speaking to 1 Limburg after linking up with the Netherlands squad for the upcoming international break.

Any potential appearances for his country come at the end of a busy few weeks for him personally after he secured a move to Brentford last week.

The Bees moved quickly to sign the 29-year-old from Freiburg at the end of the season, with current number one David Raya potentially departing this summer.

He’s been linked with several clubs in the Premier League in this window after impressing again for Brentford last season and any departure would leave Brentford with a big hole to fill.

Flekken has been brought in to do just that if the Spaniard does move on and he has admitted he is looking forward to the challenge at a new club.

“It’s nice that a club wants to spend that for a keeper like me,” he said.

“Yes, it is a difference, from a city with 250,000 inhabitants to a city with nine million people. I was also ready for something different; I see it as a great adventure.

“Although I will miss the people in Freiburg, beautiful friendships have been formed there.

“It’s a club that values ​​stability, the coach has been there for a long time, and young boys get a chance.”
