Il Tempo on Thursday provide us with the latest instalment of the Brøderbund Software hit series ‘Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego’, with a new protagonist named Ravel Morrison.
The former Manchester United child prodigy, who moved to Lazio in July 2015 after leaving West Ham on a free, appears to have disappeared off the face of the Earth, at least for those in charge of the Serie A club.
‘One million euros a season to do nothing’ is how the Italian newspaper start their article, describing how ungrateful the 23-year-old has been, with Lazio ‘giving him everything to relaunch’ his career, including still paying him, for some reason.
The ‘bet is now off’, and the clash ‘inevitable’, according to Il Tempo, as Lazio try and salvage whatever they can from the situation, but the big problem is Morrison doesn’t want to return to Italy, having travelled back to England.
The ex-Manchester United forward decided, without warning anyone, to pack his bags and ‘seek refuge’ in his home country, and isn’t responding to Lazio’s calls.
Claudio Lotito, Lazio’s owner, wants to try and get some money out of ridding himself of the troublesome youngster, but the problem is that few, if any at all, teams are willing to make a move for the former Manchester United player.
Leaving Old Trafford for West Ham back in 2012, Morrison then spent most of his time out on loan, before the Hammers had enough of him and cancelled his contract in February 2015.
Spending a few months in the free agent wilderness, he was then picked up by Lazio, making a grand total of eight appearances for them since July 2015.
Despite having all the talent in the world, it appears Ravel Morrison is deliberately alienating himself completely from the world of football, which seems like a big waste, if you ask us.
