It’s only been a couple of weeks since Claudio Ranieri was sacked by Watford, and it seems he’s already being considered for a new job in his home country.
Italian outlet Il Mattino (via Tutto Mercato Web) today writes that Serie A side Salernitana are set to decide the future of manager Stefano Colantuono after the match against Genoa. In case of a defeat, the coach should be gone.
The former Hornets’ boss is said to be along with Davide Nicola and Serse Cosmi as the names ‘considered in the past’ who should be back on being alternatives for Salernitana.
Ranieri last worked in Italy between 2019 and 2021 during his job at Sampdoria, which he left last summer.
He was signed by Watford in October 2021, and from the 14 matches in charge of the Hornets, he won two, drew one and lost 11. That led to his sacking in late January.
