Earlier on Tuesday, we noticed an article in the Swiss media claiming that St Gallen striker Cédric Itten was on the verge of leaving the club.

RTS were reporting that their president, Matthias Hüppi, had confirmed the player’s departure, but he didn’t know the destination.

The article mentioned previous interest from Rangers, but it didn’t seem like it was enough to do something on it.

However, thanks to RMC journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, we have more information, and it appears the Swiss striker is ‘on the verge’ of moving to Ibrox.

Having just confirmed the signing of Kemar Roofe, Steven Gerrard’s side will now bring in a second striker, perhaps hinting that Alfredo Morelos could very well be on his way out.

Bouhafsi explains the player has ‘agreed personal terms with Rangers’ and St Gallen have confirmed that talks with the Scottish side are ‘advancing’.

The 23-year-old was in fine form for his club during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring 20 goals and picking up seven assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.
