On July 15th, we covered claims from Spain that Rangers’ loan offer for Joan Jordán has been rejected by Sevilla, and that Philippe Clement’s side need to make an extra effort to sign him this summer.

Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo claims Rangers ‘push again’ to try and sign the 30-year-old.

After the first refusal from the La Liga side, Rangers have made a new attempt to sign Jordán on loan with a buying option set at €4m. The deal will see them cover 40% of his current salary.

At the weekend, claims from the Scottish press stated that Philippe Clement’s side are close to securing the deal for the midfielder on loan with €4m right of redemption

Mucho Deporte have dismissed that and state that he’s not close to joining Rangers. They are ‘working on it’, but haven’t yet reached the final conclusion.

Earlier this summer, the Andalusian club rejected a proposal from Deportivo Alavés because it wasn’t convincing enough. The Spaniard has been training normally, even though Sevilla manager García Pimienta has left him out of his plans.

Mucho Deporte say there could be movements towards the end of the window. Rangers can take advantage of a tense situation at Sevilla to sign Jordán for a reasonable price.
