Last month, Rangers manager Philippe Clement has expressed his desire to retain John Lundstram at Ibrox beyond this season.

The 30-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of this season and Trabzonspor are keen on taking him away.

On Tuesday, Fanatik reported the Turkish club have accelerated their efforts to sign the Rangers midfielder in the summer window. It was also explained that their aim is to agree a deal in principle with him.

There’s been new developments in their pursuit of the Rangers player if a report from 61 Trabzon Haber is to be believed.

The Englishman is on Trabzonspor’s transfer agenda and a ‘lot of progress’ has been made to secure his services. It’s pointed out he hasn’t accepted the renewal offer proposed to him by Rangers, meaning he’d be leaving Ibrox as a free agent.

61 Trabzon Haber state the Turkish club and Lundstram, through his agent, have ‘reached an agreement’ on the main issues. The two parties now only have to sort out a few details between them, including the signing on bonus and another financial detail.

The Turkish media can often be overly optimistic, especially when agents are sending information around, and there’s every chance this is an example of that.
