Giovanni van Bronckhorst wants to raid Rangers and take James Tavernier away from Philippe Clement’s side in the summer window, according to reports from Turkey.
Having left Rangers in November 2022, Van Bronckhorst has returned to management at Beşiktaş. The manager wants to reunite with the 32-year-old at the Turkish club.
Fotomaç have a report on the Rangers player, titled: ‘All eyes on Tavernier’.
Within the report, it’s said the Black Eagles are in the market for a new right-back, and they have identified Tavernier as the target. The report further claims that the Istanbul club ‘will take action’ to snatch him away from Rangers.
Over at Sözcü Gazetesi, they say the new manager has demanded Beşiktaş sign both Tavernier and Ajax’s Steven Berghuis in the next window.
The Dutchman has already started working on possible transfers for his new club, and his ‘first demands’ are to sign the Rangers fullback and Berghuis.
Tavernier has two years left on his contract, and neither report makes any mention of whether the player and/or Rangers are open to doing business with Van Bronckhorst’s side.
