Earlier today, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Rangers’ Sam Lammers is close to leaving Ibrox after FC Utrecht reached an agreement with Philippe Clement in the last few hours.
This is backed up by De Telegraaf, who explain that the Eredivisie side ‘want to finalise’ the deal for the Rangers player today.
Last summer, Rangers reportedly paid €3.5m to Atalanta to secure the 26-year-old’s services. This figure is deemed too high for the Dutch club, regardless of Lammers’ salary demands.
Therefore, they are now looking to sign the forward on a loan deal. It’s further claimed the agreement between Philippe Clement’s side and Utrecht will not include a purchase option.
De Telegraaf add the Dutchman is expected to arrive in the city soon, to carry out medical tests with Utrecht and sort out the final details to make his transfer official.
Lammers has scored two goals and registered two assists from 31 games this season for Rangers.
Philippe Clement’s side brought Fábio Silva to Ibrox earlier this month and the Wolverhampton Wanderers owned player’s arrival seems to have convinced Lammers to look for another option in January.
