Rangers striker Sam Lammers is set to return to the Eredivisie, with him now ‘one step away’ from joining FC Twente.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who report that Lammers is ‘close to changing teams again’ after falling out of favour under Philippe Clement at Ibrox.
Lammers spent the second half of last season at FC Utrecht after it was made clear he was not a part of Rangers’ or Clement’s plans moving forwards.
That loan spell proved to be an excellent one for him as he bagged 11 goals in 20 games during his six months there.
They have been keen to take him back on a permanent basis, but the deal has not been financially possible, leading Lammers to be linked with various other clubs in the Netherlands as a result.
TMW now report that it is Twente who have stepped forward, with the striker now ‘very close’ to joining them from Rangers.
They provide no details on the matter, so its not clear if the striker will be moving from Rangers on loan again or on a permanent basis. There’s no mention of what kind of contract he’d be signing ever.
Indeed, given this is an Italian outlet providing a somewhat thin report on a player moving from Scotland to the Netherlands, we will have to take it with a pinch of salt for now.
Of course, there’s every possibility that TMW have got their information because Lammers played for Atalanta before joining Rangers, but we’ll wait for more concrete information before truly getting on board either way.
