On Monday, Rangers announced they have parted ways with Giovanni van Bronckhorst, a year after they appointed him as Steven Gerrard’s successor.
Reports from Scotland have stated the Ibrox club have already started searching for the Dutchman’s replacement.
Rangers’ manager target list includes Siniša Mihajlović, who has been without a job since Bologna sacked him in September.
A report from the UK has stated the 53-year-old is keen to manage Rangers. This has been relayed by Il Resto del Carlino, who then provide their own information on this case.
Although Mihajlović is currently without a club, the newspaper local to Bologna states that he is still contracted to the Serie A side. The manager continues to be on the Italian club’s payroll until the end of this season and he stands to receive €1m.
If the Serbian wishes to become Van Bronckhorst’s successor at Rangers, he would have to ‘negotiate the definitive divorce’ with Bologna. Il Resto del Carlino claim this could either be through ‘resignation or consensual termination of the contract’.
Rangers are second in the table with 33 points from 15 matches, trailing leaders Celtic by nine points. The Ibrox club are also knocked out of European competition after losing all six of their group stage Champions League matches.
