Rangers have confirmed a consortium led by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have acquired a majority stake at Ibrox. The Scottish club, under the new ownership, first have to appoint a permanent manager for next season.
Behind the scenes, Rangers have been working to try and sign a few players to improve their squad. Rangers have 1. FC Kaiserslautern’s Almamy Touré on their transfer agenda for the summer window.
That’s according to Africa Foot, who state Rangers are making advances in their efforts to secure the 29-year-old’s services. The Mali international will leave the second division German club when his contract with them expires on June 30th.
He can operate in the heart of the defence or as a right-back, like Rangers’ Leon Balogun. The 36-year-old Nigerian will leave Ibrox and could be replaced by Touré.
Africa Foot report the Scottish Premiership side have to find an agreement with Touré’s agent over personal terms. He reportedly earned €452,400 season and it may not be an issue for them to at least match it.
Rangers have to act quickly because Genoa, Trabzonspor, and the Philadelphia Union are also trying to sign the defender.
