Rangers striker Sam Lammers has admitted he doesn’t know what the future holds for him once his loan at FC Utrecht comes to an end.
Lammers has been speaking to Voetbal International, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, about his situation and whether he will be returning to Philippe Clement’s squad in the summer.
He left Rangers and Ibrox for Utrecht in the January transfer window after finding himself down the pecking under following Clement’s arrival last year.
He’s proven to be a major hit for the Dutch side, scoring five goals and registering three assists in 12 games and featuring in 99% of the available minutes since his arrival.
Given that fact it’s easy to assume they’d like to keep him on a permanent basis but his loan deal from Rangers doesn’t include a clause, and so he’ll be returning to Ibrox at the end of the season unless there is an agreement between the two sides.
Manager Ron Jans has already admitted he thinks Rangers could be a problem they need to overcome, as well as the financial aspect, to get a deal done.
And Lammers admits he doesn’t know what’s on the cards but wants to ensure he protects his own image whatever happens.
“What will happen next? I have no idea, there have been no discussions about that yet,” he said.
“It is clear that I have the ambition to reach as high as possible. I have had good moments abroad, but also bad moments.
“The most important thing is that I become a better player every year and that it is now reflected in statistics, it is important to me and also for the image to the outside world.”
