Jens Hjertø-Dahl has come leaps and bounds in the last few months. The talent was a target for Rangers in January and Celtic are now also in the mix for him.
Back in early February, Sport Witness covered interest from Danny Röhl’s Rangers, and now Celtic have joined them. Besiktas had, at one point, come close to sealing a January deal for the youngster.
The Turkish club ended up dithering when the move was close to completion, allowing Rangers to make an approach. A final deal never materialised, with the Tromso player’s situation once again under the spotlight.
The list of suitors for the 20-year-old has only grown, with Il Resto Del Carlino taking a close look, and covering Rangers and Celtic.
Rangers and Celtic competing
The Italian newspaper report Bologna’s interest in the midfielder, who has played six times for the Norway U21s side already.
Remo Freuler is expected to depart the Rossoblu at the end of the campaign. This is making them consider a move for Hjertø-Dahl, who is valued at €8m to €10m right now.
Rangers are keen but are now facing competition from Celtic. The two Scottish clubs are unlikely to have it easy, with Besiktas still trying to sign the Norwegian talent.
Scouts from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs have also been keeping a close eye on the player, who scored a sensational hat-trick in Tromso’s first game of the season earlier this month.
This has only led to more clubs being impressed by Hjertø-Dahl, who should earn a big move in the summer.
Rangers efforts could be worth it
That Danny Röhl’s Rangers are still pushing, makes clear how much they like Hjertø-Dahl. The amount of clubs that are interested is also indicates that a deal could be worth it for Rangers.
Despite his young age, the versatile midfielder has played 89 times in all competitions for the Norwegian side. He has always been among the goals, finding the net 15 times and assisting nine times.
His talent is clear to see, with the youngster also capable of playing deeper in midfield.
The only major threat for Rangers should be the competition. Everton have also been mentioned as a suitor in the past, which suggests that bigger clubs can join the race for Hjertø-Dahl soon.
At this point, it looks to be Rangers, Celtic, Besiktas and Bologna, with others likely joining in the next few weeks.
