Ralf Rangnick hasn’t actually managed a club since 2016, when he moved upstairs at RB Leipzig. By all accounts he’s been doing a good job, but every now and again links appear over a managerial job in England.

Rangnick has been linked with taking over at Everton, then the English national team, and now Arsenal. Sky Sports pushing the claims has seen the German drop to 6/1 in Sky Bet’s current odds, which shows people are placing money.

Getting a new RB Leipzig contract in November, until 2021, around the time of the Everton links (those proved handy), Rangnick has shown no serious signs of being unhappy.

But, with Arsenal links now around, he’s obviously been questioned on the situation. Rangnick has told Germany’s Kicker it’s ‘pure speculation’, and added: “We know nothing and concentrate fully on the season finale.”

He’s not ruling it out, maybe he’s after another contract again, but that would appear too soon.

Reading between the lines, it’s either total nonsense, or someone somewhere continues dipping Rangnick’s toe into the English job market. That could be the manager himself, either because he’s genuinely interested or enjoys the idea of it and how it then makes RB Leipzig love him all the more.

It may simply be media games. Or Ralf Rangnick could be repeatedly on the list of English clubs and even the FA.

Take your pick, but he says he knows nothing about the Arsenal claims.
