Feyenoord will not stand in the way of Justin Bijlow’s move to Southampton and both clubs expect a deal to be done quickly.
That’s according to journalist Martijn Krabbendam, via FC Update, who reports that Southampton are not putting up any obstacles for the transfer to happen.
A report earlier today indicated that Southampton were in talks with Feyenoord over a move for the goalkeeper as Russel Martin continues to strengthen his squad following promotion.
Those initial reports made it clear that a deal wasn’t seen as complicated to get done and Krabbendam continues that today.
According to him the two sides continues to negotiation on Thursday regarding the 26-year-old, who has lost his starting role at Feyenoord to Timon Wellenreuther.
“All parties would find it strange if no agreement was reached tonight or tomorrow,” he reported on Thursday.
“Of course, the club (Feyenoord) does ask for a transfer fee in line with the market but is prepared to divide it into a rental structure and a mandatory purchase option, the amount of which is now being negotiated.”
It therefore remains to be seen what figure the two sides agree upon but there does not appear to be any roadblocks to this one happening sooner rather than later.
One possible issue could be Aaron Ramsdale, who has also been linked with a move to Saint Mary’s and is surely going to leave Arsenal before the end of the transfer window.
Southampton could favour him ahead of Bijlow if he was made available on loan and on favourable terms given his Premier League experience, but that’s very much an if and it seems talks are progressing rapidly for Bijlow.
