Birmingham City are unlikely to sign Dundee forward Greg Stewart after the Championship side signed Che Adams from Sheffield United earlier this week. Stewart has been linked with a move to England this summer, and Queens Park Rangers are the latest club to show an interest in the 26-year-old.
The Dundee Evening Telegraph have this morning claimed Birmingham City could pull out of the race to sign Stewart after Adams signed for the club on Monday night, for a fee in the region of £2m.
Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett will now give consideration as to whether he requires Stewart for his squad, and if so may approach the club’s leaders to ask for more funds.
The Championship side have already had a bid of €300k rejected by Dundee as this was way below the SPL club’s valuation of the player.
Only yesterday we covered reports that QPR were now in the race to sign Stewart as they look for a replacement for the departed Matt Philips. Stewart is keen to move in this transfer window in order to make the step in his career, but Dundee have made it known they will only sell him for £1.5m.
The forward has just under 12 months left on his contract after refusing to extend this beyond next summer. Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers have also been linked with Stewart in recent weeks.
