Torino signed Davide Zappacosta last summer to replace Matteo Darmian, who left for Manchester United, and it now appears they might have to replace him as well this summer.

Reports in the Italian press suggest Zappacosta is attracting interest from Premier League clubs, and could be on the move. According to Gazzamercato, Sunderland are interested in signing the 24-year-old.

Gazzamercato, an offshoot of Gazzetta dello Sport, say English clubs were also keen on signing him last summer, and now it’s Sunderland having a look.

A lot was expected from the 24-year-old when he signed for Torino last summer, but he didn’t really have the impact which some had expected.

Zappacosta managed just over 1300 minutes of football in all competitions, and has another three years left on his contract.
