Victor Orta has spoken to the Spanish media to rubbish claims about the Whites moving for Valencia attacker Goncalo Guedes.

The Portuguese player has been repeatedly linked with an exit, with Jorge Mendes tasked with finding him a new home. It’s not that the Spanish club don’t rate him, but rather that they need a sale to help them bring in targets this summer.

Guedes has therefore been repeatedly linked with clubs where Mendes has good connections, with Wolves and AS Roma being the main ones, but nothing has taken off so far.

Leeds United were then pushed forward as a potential destination, perhaps due to them losing Raphinha to Barcelona last month, yet Orta has taken the step of killing the claims.

Quoted by Spanish newspaper Marca, the Elland Road official said: “The thing about Guedes at Leeds is pure clickbait. I have never spoken with Guedes, nor with his agent nor with Valencia on this subject. There is nothing at all.”

Marca say Orta also said the squad is ‘95% done’, which hints at business to come, but not much: “We have invested the same as we have sold, although it is true that we have signed seven players and we have sold two stars.”
