As Catalan newspaper Sport today writes about the future of Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, Manchester United are labelled as one of the clubs who could take him away from the Camp Nou.

Sport claim the centre-back is in a ‘key situation’ regarding his future, as there have been ‘tempting offers’ which are having a big impact on his situation at Barça.

It’s said the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United recently made ‘strong bids’ for Araujo, and that led his agents to call Barcelona to sit and negotiate for a new contract.

The player, however, seems to have been ‘distracted’ by the whole scenario, with Sport pointing out he’s been putting in poor performances recently.

Now the strangest claim in this story is about the price that Barcelona would demand for a sale, and what they’d agree to see him go for. It’s said that while the Camp Nou side need €100m made this summer, Araujo is one of the players whose departure could get ‘close to this amount’.

That’s definitely something to be seen, as it may be more wishful thinking from the local media than anything else. It will be no surprise if Manchester United spend big on a new centre-back this summer, but it’s hard to imagine them spending that much on a player whose performances have been questioned by the very same Catalan press who think he’s worth close to €100m.
