Southampton manager Claude Puel has told the French media Southampton is proving to be a challenge for him. The Frenchman was installed as the Southampton boss in the summer after Ronald Koeman exited the club for Everton.
Speaking to Le Parisien, Puel was asked how he’s settled in England since his arrival. Puel said it has been a struggle for his family because they aren’t able to socialise because they don’t know anybody yet.
He revealed this has been hard for himself and his wife, but interestingly added that Southampton reminds him of Monaco because of the cruise ships.
“She learns English but she has no social life. It is a challenge for her as well. Our apartment gives us both a view of the stadium and of the cruise boats. It reminds me of Monaco. The people are very friendly and attentive but I do not know anybody here,” said the Southampton boss.
Despite some poor results over the Christmas period Puel has made a steady start at Southampton. The Premier League side are currently in 9th place and are still in contention for a European spot. Puel’s side are also in the semi finals of the EFL Cup, and will meet Liverpool for a place in the final.
