Paris Saint-Germain lost twice to Manchester City in less than a week and the Ligue 1 side finished both the fixtures with 10 men.
Idrissa Gueye received his marching orders in the first leg in Paris last week and Ángel Di María was shown a straight red card for jabbing his studs on Fernandinho’s foot on Tuesday.
The incident took place in the second half when Di Maria’s pass was blocked by the Brazilian and it resulted in a throw-in.
When collecting the ball from the sidleines, the former Manchester United winger stamped on the Citizens midfielder, who had appeared to confront the Argentine.
According to Le Parisien, Di Maria, who wasn’t happy with the red card he received, did not hesitate to ‘express his anger’ to the Dutch referee, Bjorn Kuipers.
The former Real Madrid star was then seen verbally attacking Pep Guardiola’s man and ‘insulting him several times’.
Fernandinho and Manchester City won’t be too worried about this incident, considering they have sealed a berth in the Champions League final. Guardiola’s side will face either Real Madrid or Chelsea in the final later this month.
